Both teams to score and win asks for two things at once: a side good enough to take the points and loose enough to concede on the way. This file shows how often the Premier League delivers that, across 7,980 completed league matches from 2005/06–2025/26, and what a fair price looks like before any bookmaker margin. It sits behind my BTTS & win tips page as the reference I check first.
The home side won with both teams scoring in 20.1% of matches, which is fair odds of 4.97. The away side did it in 14.1%, fair odds 7.10. Together that is 34.2%, ranking the Premier League 9th of 22 European divisions studied. One caveat applies throughout: the records hold no prices for this market, so everything here is hit rates and fair odds, not returns at real prices.
§ 1Wins to nil outnumber BTTS wins on both sides
This table splits every full-time result by whether both teams scored. Home win & BTTS landed in 1,606 matches, or 20.1%, with a 95% range of ±0.9. That is tight enough to trust at league level. The away version sits at 14.1%, fair odds 7.10.
The row next to each one matters more. Home wins to nil took 25.4% of matches against 20.1% for home wins with both scoring. Away wins to nil took 16.0% against 14.1%. Score draws added 17.1%, and 0-0 finished 7.2%.
| Outcome | Matches | Share | 95% range | Fair odds |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Home win & BTTS | 1,606 | 20.1% | ±0.9 | 4.97 |
| Home win to nil | 2,030 | 25.4% | ±1.0 | 3.93 |
| Score draw | 1,367 | 17.1% | ±0.8 | 5.84 |
| 0-0 | 574 | 7.2% | ±0.6 | 13.90 |
| Away win & BTTS | 1,124 | 14.1% | ±0.8 | 7.10 |
| Away win to nil | 1,279 | 16.0% | ±0.8 | 6.24 |
Fair odds = 1 ÷ observed share, no margin. 95% range in percentage points.
The clean-sheet win is the default Premier League win, not the open one. A BTTS & win selection needs a reason to expect the winner to concede, not just a reason to expect it to win.
§ 2Home BTTS wins peaked in 2023/24 before easing back
Season by season, the home line moves within a fairly narrow band. It started at 19.2% in 2005/06, hit its low of 16.1% in 2020/21 and its high of 25.5% in 2023/24, and sat at 21.3% in 2025/26. Each point is a 380-match season, so swings of a few points are partly noise.
The away line ran the other way in 2020/21. In the season home BTTS wins hit their floor, away BTTS wins peaked at 18.9%. The weakest away season was 2006/07 at 9.2%, and 2025/26 closed at 14.5%.
Each point is one league season.

| 2024/25 | 22.1% | 15.0% |
| 2025/26 | 21.3% | 14.5% |
I read 2020/21 as a reminder that home advantage is a variable, not a constant. When the home edge weakens, part of this market moves from the home side to the away side, and I shift which side I back accordingly.
§ 3Manchester City lead the club table at 26.9%
Among 35 clubs with at least 150 Premier League matches, Manchester City won with both teams scoring in 26.9% of 798 matches. Arsenal were next at 25.7%, then Manchester United at 25.4%. The top of the table is the established elite, which makes sense: you cannot win with both sides scoring without winning a lot first. The average club-match rate is 17.1%.
The last column is where profiles separate. Tottenham's wins came with the opponent scoring 49.0% of the time, the highest in the top group. Chelsea's figure was 41.6%, and their rate was almost identical home and away at 23.6% and 23.3%. Manchester City's home rate of 32.6% against 21.3% away shows how much venue matters even for the strongest side.
| Club | Matches | Won & BTTS | At home | Away | Wins with BTTS |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Manchester City | 798 | 26.9% | 32.6% | 21.3% | 44.5% |
| Arsenal | 798 | 25.7% | 30.6% | 20.8% | 45.6% |
| Manchester United | 798 | 25.4% | 29.1% | 21.8% | 44.0% |
| Liverpool | 798 | 24.3% | 27.6% | 21.1% | 42.7% |
| Tottenham | 798 | 23.6% | 27.6% | 19.5% | 49.0% |
| Chelsea | 798 | 23.4% | 23.6% | 23.3% | 41.6% |
| West Brom | 418 | 10.5% | 12.4% | 8.6% | 41.9% |
| Wigan | 304 | 10.2% | 11.2% | 9.2% | 36.5% |
| Sunderland | 456 | 9.6% | 11.4% | 7.9% | 39.3% |
| Burnley | 380 | 9.5% | 10.0% | 8.9% | 39.1% |
| Hull City | 190 | 9.5% | 14.7% | 4.2% | 43.9% |
| Sheffield United | 152 | 6.6% | 9.2% | 3.9% | 29.4% |
'Won & BTTS' = club won and both teams scored, % of the club's matches. League average 17.1%.
At the bottom, Sheffield United managed 6.6% of 152 matches and Hull City 9.5%, with Hull at 14.7% at home but just 4.2% away. These figures span many squads and managers, and only the seasons each club spent in the division. I treat them as a profile, not a current rating.
§ 4Shorter favourites win more but keep more clean sheets
This chart sets each favourite's win rate against its win & BTTS rate, grouped by 1X2 price. Favourites under 1.30 won 80.6% of 768 matches but won with both teams scoring only 30.7%, fair odds 3.25. At 2.40+ the favourite won 38.6% of 1,261 matches and landed win & BTTS in 18.5%, fair odds 5.41.
The gap between the dots narrows as the price drifts because the underdog scores more often in those wins. The underdog scored in 38.1% of wins by under 1.30 favourites, against 47.8% of wins by 2.40+ favourites. The 1.30–1.49 band, at 31.4%, slightly edges the shortest band.

| Favourite won | Won & BTTS | 95% range | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Under 1.30 (768 matches) | 80.6% | 30.7% | ±3.3 |
| 1.30–1.49 (1,000 matches) | 71.9% | 31.4% | ±2.9 |
| 1.50–1.69 (1,141 matches) | 62.2% | 26.5% | ±2.6 |
| 1.70–1.99 (1,613 matches) | 54.4% | 24.9% | ±2.1 |
| 2.00–2.39 (2,157 matches) | 43.5% | 19.4% | ±1.7 |
| 2.40+ (1,261 matches) | 38.6% | 18.5% | ±2.1 |
This is the combination trap in plain view. A heavy favourite usually wins, but most of those wins are clean sheets, so the BTTS leg does the damage. This market tends to suit favourites who are strong but not dominant.
Almanac verdict
- Start from the baseline
- Treat 4.97 for home win & BTTS and 7.10 for away win & BTTS as the league's neutral fair odds. Back every move away from them with team-specific evidence.
- Check the concession column
- Before backing a strong side, look at how often its wins come with the opponent scoring. Tottenham's 49.0% and Chelsea's 41.6% describe very different kinds of winner.
- Respect very short favourites
- Favourites under 1.30 won 80.6% of matches but only 30.7% with both teams scoring. Fair odds of 3.25 are the bar any price on them needs to beat.
Questions bettors ask
How often does the home team win with both teams scoring in the Premier League?
In 20.1% of 7,980 matches from 2005/06–2025/26, which is fair odds of 4.97 before any margin. The away version landed in 14.1%, fair odds 7.10.
Which Premier League club wins with both teams scoring most often?
Manchester City, at 26.9% of 798 matches, ahead of Arsenal at 25.7%. At home, City's rate rises to 32.6%.
Is BTTS & win good value on big favourites?
Favourites under 1.30 won with both teams scoring in only 30.7% of 768 matches, fair odds 3.25, despite winning 80.6% outright. A price shorter than that fair figure pays less than the historical rate justifies, though past rates do not predict a single match.
